The objective of the Drinking Water program is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public through regulation of the construction and operation of public and private potable water well systems. Construction of potable water well systems under Florida Department of Health authority (per s. 381.0062, Florida Statutes) are inspected to ensure minimum standards are met in order to help prevent contamination of potable water supplied to the public. In addition, initial clearance and routine sampling requirements are enforced in order to ensure that water supplies, both public and private, are bacteriologically, chemically and radiologically safe and physically acceptable for human use and consumption.
