The Epidemiology program is responsible for the surveillance of reportable diseases in Flagler County. This includes investigating, intervening, monitoring, and coordinating reporting of reportable diseases. Disease investigations include: identifying the source of the agent, identifying the mode and time of transmission, identifying other persons at risk, and implementing control measures as necessary. The department also conducts studies to access health risks associated with newly emerging infectious agents and other public health hazards. The Epidemiology staff provides education and consultations for the public, physicians, hospitals, day care centers, nursing homes, schools, veterinarians, animal services, and other institutions in our community.
